Any reliable information on the provenience of those photos, Nora? Any way to know those really represent socialist health care? Just asking, 'cuz your track record for honesty and accuracy ain't great.

Health care is too important for bullshit memes. This is a photo of the real socialist medical facility where I get my excellent health care.

There's a VA Medical Center about 50 miles from you in Wilmington. If you have a real, rather than propagandist, interest in the quality of socialist health care you could see it there.

Let us know what you find.

Actually, Jack, the previous socialist meme is of course an exaggeration (as are most) to make a point. Or be humorous. Or be whatever anybody wants to make of them. And, since you find my posts a track record of inaccuracies, may I suggest, yet again, that you cease reading them, sir.
Joanie, you keep asking me whether I think Trump's reasoning is ok. Whether I agree with his decisions. And I keep saying it makes NO difference what I think of the firings.  It is entirely up to the POTUS to hire & fire & pardon & hang medals on whomever he legally wants to hire & fire (& pardon & medal). Yup, even if it's for vengeance. For bad breath. For whatever. And, definitely for testifying against him. If you want things to change, you'll have to pass laws to amend the Constitutional rights that a POTUS possesses upon election.
When you think people are in lockstep with Trump's decisions, you miss the single most important reason people are drawn to Trump: through the tweets & twitters & chaos, THEY FEEL HE IS ON THEIR SIDE.

No, ma'am. I'll keep reading your posts, hoping every time to find truth supported by evidence. I know it seems naive, even foolish, but hope springs eternal, as they say.

But I'll still call bullshit when I see it.

Poverty as humor, though?

Donald Trump is on WHOSE side Nori?

Like I said, it's whatever anyone wants to make of it, Jack. No, for me it is not humorous that the finest heart surgeons on the planet can be found in the good old US of A. Sad, really. But, let's just say I would follow Brit Mick Jagger's lead in choosing the States to have my open heart surgery instead of an English government health center. I sold my Bahamian home in 2010 because I was reaching an age where decent health care should be nearby & not a plane ride away to Nassau.

Gosh, I dunno, Robert. Maybe because he likes a stronger military, law enforcement, NATO countries to play/pay fair, the unborn, US taxpayers, jobs, fewer food stamp & welfare recipients, Israel, stronger border, lower taxes, companies to return to the US, low across the board unemployment, prison reform,  school choice; deporting criminals, killing bad guys, addressing opioid addiction, cities that aren't sanctuaries for illegals. Reagan once said the best economic program is a job. Seems there are a lot of people that agree.

The mistake you make in your argument in my opinion Nori is to act like Trump is in the right to do all these things he is doing and because he is in the right only amending the Constitution makes a change as if he is in lock step with the Constitution. He is not...that is why we are all so upset. He is trampling on the Constitution, threatening people and judges and acting in a lawless way. Love, Joanie

"Trump demands"..."veiled threat"..his words "seemed to indicate"....Joanie, this piece is taking an out-of-context comment & twisting it to fit a narrative that may or may not be accurate. Trump, like all of us, can verbally criticize a city if he wants to. If you ask me, the ambiguous phrase "abuse of power" is being highly abused these days. Let's at least agree that it should be better defined than this flimsy article tries to  indicate.

Nori, holding back funds in NY appropriated for a law passed in NY unless law suits against Trump are dropped is an abuse of power. Targeting Judge Jackson, who will decide the sentencing of Roger Stone is interfering in the Judiciary and
Is an abuse of power and threatens her too as there are a lot of crackpots out there. There are so many other examples too but these are two of the latest. Love joanie

Trump likes law enforcement (just to pick one of Nora's likes). Uh-huh. We haven't had a President who respects the law and law enforcement this much since Dick Nixon. Let us count the ways.

No President has ever had as many associates, aides, friends, donors and other "best people," as he promised us, investigated, indicted, convicted, jailed . . .

At least 10 potential acts of obstruction of justice identified in the Mueller report.

The President's tweets make it impossible for the Department of Justice to do its job, according to the AG.

Law enforcement, but with special enforcement for friends like Stone and war criminals.

Disregard for international laws of warfare, in advocating torture of captives and the killing of families of terrorists.

Lack of concern for laws on criminal assault, encouraging his own supporters to assault demonstrators, encouraging police to abuse prisoners, and encouraging sexual assaults on women.

Violation of the law in ignoring the Impoundment Control Act, freezing money allocated by Congress.

Not to forget his discrimination against people of color in rental practices and Trump University's defrauding of students.

And this is the man who fills the office of Chief Executive, responsible for insuring that the laws of the United States are carried out.

Actually, to give Trump all due credit, he may put Tricky Dick to shame in his disrespect for law.

And I agree that the handling & sentencing of Roger Stone has been unfair & would have been non-existent if he weren't tied to Trump. Do you really think Manafort would be in solitary confinement if he weren't also connected to Trump? I'm glad that the president & his critics (ie. Barr) air their differences publicly. I call it transparency. Your age old list of Trump concerns seem to stay long in your craw, Jack. Still bringin up Nixon? Yikes. Makes one wonder if your more favored politicians'  missteps hang around quite as long. For a change of pace, instead of Trump bashing, tell me what's so great about the Democratic  Party & this group of candidates. Just a thought.
Yummy, Glen. Makes me smile ... almost as much as the Caps' win last night. Think that elusive 700 is a mental thing, tho?
To my loving classmates...

"age old list of Trump concerns seem to stay long in your craw, Jack."

Age old? The record of illegal/unjust/fraudulent/racist acts have no expiration date if you're running for President. And even after a President is out of office, we remember their histories.

Trump, Donald J. 45th President of the United States

Joanie Bender (Grosfeld)

This Administration is hardly transparent Nori...Trump tears up notes after meetings with Putin and is presently saying he doesn't want anyone listening in to his calls. Barr is going around doing Trump's bidding as secretly as possible...he is investigating Trumps enemies like the FBI rather then supporting the FBI and the prosecutors that resigned due to the unprecedented interfernce in this case that they have been prosecuting. .Again, its unheard of to get involved in that when the guidelines for 7 felonies were within the 7-9 year range. ...If Barr was truly concerned about the guidelines being too strict, I haven't heard a word from Barr about all the othres sentenced by those guidelines languishing in jail but he had a lot to say about Trump's longtime friend and advisor Roger Stone..  The reason Barr finally said something is that he is worried that his reputation would be sullied by his trying to lower Stone's sentence right after Trump tweeted about the alleged travesty. Barr is Trump's Roy Cohn. Love, Joanie

Nori, thanks for understanding about the Roger Stone connection and the unfairness....anyway, here is an article that explains Barr's misuse of his office, in my opinion. Love, Joanie

Abuse of Power - "A misuse of power by someone in a position of authority who can use the leverage they have to oppress persons in an inferior position or to induce them to commit a wrongful act."

https://dictionary.thelaw.com/abuse-of-power/

If the term is being misused or overused maybe DT should stop abusing his power. I think the definition is pretty clear.

I too find your use of a run down hospital in Venezuela less than amusing. Maybe you find it hilarious but I find it sad. And the mansion? I don't get the point of that. Just looks like a bunch of houses in Beverly Hills where I guarantee no politicians live. We appear to have VERY different senses of humor.

Thanks for documenting the bullshit in that meme, Joan. I don't think referring to a deceptive post like that as a lie is at all exaggerated: a deliberate, false statement intended to mislead. Clearly, the person who creates bogus memes is a liar; what to call those who disseminate lies?

I assume most memes that masquerade as facts are lies. Sometimes I bother to check, like you did, much of the time, especially if the person passing them on has a lousy record for truth, I just go with my assumption.

As Snopes says in the fact check you cite (thanks again), "Rather than accurately depicting the impacts of socialism, this meme is perhaps a better example of how images can be taken out of context, re-captioned, and repackaged in order to spread a political agenda."

Two of the photographs purporting to show the horrors of life in socialist societies are from a capitalist society--the U. S. The other is not of a politician's home, but a luxury hotel.

When people refuse to use readily available facts, data, to further a political agenda and choose to use falsities instead, two questions come to mind:

1. Is their agenda so weak that only lies will support it?

2. Are they so dishonest, and lazy, that it's just easier to make things up than do honest research to support their argument?

If the answer to either or both is yes, we can disbelieve future undocumented assertions on their part. Unless, like me, we like to think that someday pigs will fly.

4 billion dollars in our taxes going to support IMPOTUS's re-election. Ten times the amount he tried to use to leverage election support in Ukraine.

Yes, it showed with hyperbole the distinctions tween the 'have nots' vs. the disportionate rich in a corrupt nation such as Abaco, Bahamas. To illustrate the vast differences in our world & their's, the photos are exaggerated but not by much. Nassau's parliament lives like kings. The citizens there could be modeling in that photographed hospital (really a "walk-in & wait forever clinic"). Snooty germ freak that I was & still am, after waiting in the local vet's office with Bimini (my yellow Labrador) I went to the desk & told them I was leaving. The place was so filthy & so stench-filled that I grabbed my pooch & abruptly drove home to take a long soapy bath together. She developed (kennel cough) from the bacterialized vet floor. Not all was lost as it was a catalyst to my selling my house after 12 years. Before heading out, I would lose 66% of it's worth in taxes with which the handful of corrupt Parliamentarians could get even fatter. Worse, I would sadly lose a good Abaconian friend to a heart attack who would have been resuscitated in an ambulance had he been in the States. There are no ambulances in Abaco. Or were none 10 years ago. But I would then head home to the States, where prices & taxes & standards are something people cannot fathom until they've seen the world. Wolfgang's Germany has a 45% income tax rate. Gas prices in Germany are double ours. Abaco gas is triple ours. They may tout single-pay healthcare but when it's substandard & taxes are to the moon, a population pays heavily for it. JMHO. Footnote: refreshing to hear from Jack that a VA hospital is an excellent service facility. Things are looking up!
SOO, somebody be brave & switch from Trump bashing to telling us why the Democratic Party is so great & who's particularly great as a candidate. Please? I would think the Jays would be a-buzz! Not motivated?

Trump is willing to raid military allotted money to build his wall to keep out immigrants and at the same time also propose budget cuts to the most needy, including poor children who benefit from the SNAP program.

On another subject, Trump's personal attorney Barr who should be independent and represent justice for the American people, has shown a clear pattern of supporting Trump's crooked cronies by taking the unprecidented steps of trying to lighten Stone and Flynn's sentences and going after Trump's enemy list...he has investigated Clinton, Comey, McCabe, etc so far to no avail. Barr is corrupt as is Trump.
