Glen, you are 100 percent when it comes to showing us amazing food items and in general you get top marks.

Jay, thanks for that post. It summed up so well the horrendous situation under Trump.
Love, joanie

Harvard and MIT are suing the Trump administration for their new July 6th policy about international students having to appear in person for classes or be deported. Another instance of the anti immigrant and cruel policies of Trump. Either study in person and risk getting sick or leave. Love, Joanie

Glen, I don't eat stuff I find in the woods, I just take pictures. If it doesn't come wrapped in plastic with a label it doesn't go in my mouth.

*********

Jay, that was a nasty post. It's not Trump's responsibility, it's all Obama's fault.

I hope Trump's fondness for
the Lost Cause will help him get over the fact that the Stars and Bars are on top.

********

Helen, now you've got me looking for them--Thalictrum, not bots. And sure enough, up at the dam hanging out over the water:

*********

I don't think we have our own, personal bot or troll, Robert. The falsehoods and inaccuracies are just too blatant; a well-programmed bot or well-trained troll would be much more subtle. You don't want to set off the, "Don't bullshit me in a way that makes me think you think I'm stupid" response.

On the other hand, maybe a troll that fails Trollcraft 101 gets sent to a modern equivalent of the old KGB punishment sites in Siberia. Lowndes, Delaware?

Lots of good info on IRA trolling operations in the US, especially their use of Facebook as a distribution platform, at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Research_Agency

SHAME!

An honest man, a good soldier, fucked over by a revenge-driven Commander in Chief not worthy of shining the Colonel's boots.

He said to his father just prior to testifying honestly to Congress, "Do not worry. I will be fine for telling the truth." Lt. Col. Vindman had more faith in his adopted country and its President than they deserved.

Trump is disgraceful.. How anyone could still be for him I'll never know. Here a decorated hero, Lt.Colonel Vindman, who was subponaed to testify and then told the truth under oath was forced to resign and denied his promotion by a small vindictive man. What a disgrace. Love, Joanie

Take 15 minutes to remind yourself that the world is full of better people than Donald Trump. You'll feel better after watching this.

Well looks like we won't see Trump's tax returns before the election but with friends like this maybe we won't need them.

Helen that ad is FANTASTIC...it should be played and played and played throughout the campaign season. Wow, Lindsay Graham's own words..

thanks for putting that on. Love, Joanie

Recall to active duty Lt. Col. Vindman and Capt. Crozier. Promote Lt. Col. Vinderman to Coronel; Capt. Crozier to Rear Admiral, and give each the choice of remaining on active duty. Reduce Adm. Gilday a star and reassign him as Acting US Navy Attache to the Island of Cyprus.

But if he refuses, I'll take the job.

Politics rather than food from Glen--Trump is truly doomed!

And a truly great ad. Let me predict the Trumpian reaction. Lindsay Graham: "traitor," "enemy of the people," "human scum" . . .  A salute to Lindsay Graham, he's in good company.

I guess the SCOTUS decision means that if Trump WERE to shoot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue at least the cops could look to see if there were a dead body on the street and a smoking gun in Trump's hand. KellyAnn Conway would tell us he shouldn't be charged because criminal proceedings might interrupt his TV time or golf game.

Not that it would bother his supporters. "Oh, they all do that." "Trump was just kidding." "We don't care who he shoots as long as he appoints anti-choice jurors to the Supreme Court."

Another Lincoln Project ad, from a "gun owning, pro-life, combat veteran" who says Donald Trump is unfit to serve as President.

Glen I like all the promotions and the demotion you listed. If I might add one major change in status, Trump should be demoted from President to dangerous criminal and put in prison. Love joanie

Ahoy, forum family! Have been catching up with my other family lately but I did just scan your posts. You guys have been busy!
Who ever knows where FB posts originated, unless indicated?  I will be sure to tell my friend that his former student might not have authored the opinion post. But, since he's not handing out a grade, I doubt he'll care much if she plagiarised. And speaking of plagiarism, get a load of the opinion below. Looks like Biden could have used a mom & dad like yours, Jack. (Followed, of course, by some lightheartedness of which the forum could use an injection).
Keep sharing, my friends!

Joe Biden is not a perfect man but there is NO COMPARISON to him with the daily lying and cheating and danger of Trump. I think Biden's good traits are abundant and all I have to say is Go Joe Go. This country needs Joe badly. Love Joanie

Wikipedia has an article worth reading titled "Donald Trump on Social Media" which should be shared with a wider audience. Trump's use of Twitter in particular is eye opening. Assuming that our president can compose and type at lightning speed and needs only one minute to compose and type each tweet then he spends from one (first half 2020) to three and a third HOURS (June 5, 2020) a day producing them. Again that's assuming he needs only ONE MINUTE to compose and type each one.

The wikipedia article Robert cites is very much worth reading. It demonstrates that among other falsehoods and slander, Trump uses social media to spread:

False crime statistics about people of color

Material from racist web sites

Faked videos/photos

Unsubstantiated conspiracy theories

Sleazy allegations condemning career military personnel and other public servants

Bogus, out of context quotes

etc.

Sound familiar? Unlike Twitter and a few other social media platforms, the Forum makes no attempt to flag misleading information. But Forum members do a pretty good job of it!

Jack I hear you state has a pretty decent record on controling corona. All that will change when DT arrives for his latest rally on Saturday. Stay home and stay safe!

So far, so good here in NH, Joan. If we can be happy, or at least content, keeping our deaths limited pretty much to old folks. Or, people our age as they're sometimes known. Trump seems happy about the 1% (?) of old, already compromised, lower economic class and people of color that are ones most harmed by the virus.

Not sure why our stats are low. Personal anecdotal take is that almost everyone out and about is masked, but I don't go out and about much myself so that's not a reliable stat. Not much mask wearing among kayakers! Friends who get out, or to other places, tell me maybe a little over half the people they see are masked.

But we DON'T have the anti-masking nutters who verbally assault mask wearers, or at least not that I've heard of. I may have mentioned before my biologist friend in Montana who goes masked whenever out, gets dirty looks and rude remarks from the unmasked.

I'm just glad  I don't have to worry about school re-opening, either as a parent, teacher, or tax payer. Good NYT article on ALL the complexities of that issue here.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/09/us/schools-reopening-trump.html?referringSource=articleShare

But it's under control, it will all just disappear.

Jack, maybe this article will shed some light on New Hampshire and relatively low cases. I really dislike Gov. Sununu but as far as the virus, I think he takes it very seriously and he won't be at the Trump rally but will greet him it says, and he encourages mask wearing, unlike Trump. Love, Joanie

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8502787/New-Hampshire-governor-says-WONT-Donald-Trumps-weekend-rally-caution.html

07/10/20 12:54 PM #12387

Jack Mallory

Thanks, Joanie. Sununu is part of the red state that with the blue state makes NH a purple state, and we could do a lot worse than him. You can tell that he's walking a fine line by greeting Trump at the airport but not attending the rallly because of Trump's mask stupidity.

But, moments ago . . .

I like to believe that the god I don't believe in is trying to send a Trump a message.

Yes, I can see where that Bloomberg piece on Biden might ruffle your feathers a bit, Jack. It's disturbing to know someone you perceive as "decent", has so many issues with the truth. Better to just not believe it & hope the Russians made it all up. Or just skip my posts altogether. Spare the angst. Articles like that one, however, may explain why, according to polls, many Dems are not enthused about his candidacy. But with luck, the perfect veep will change all that.
     Here's some fun to enjoy!

If it's the truth that concerns you Nori, you should be screaming everyday about Trump who lies constantly and you never say a word.. How do you feel about the huge amount of lies Trump tells. Love, joanie

07/10/20 02:40 PM #12390

Nora Skinker (Morton)

I hope you would know that I, as well as everyone else, am always interested in the truth, Joanie. As the article pointed out, however, with Biden's track record of cheating, lying & plagiarism, he should reconsider running as the candidate bringing truth & decency & unification to the country, to differentiate himself from Trump. As you know from the video I sent you, his record does not support those attributes. In my opinion, he should shed the righteous "decency" mantra & focus on HOW he will deal with issues such as healing the economy, bringing down the crime rate which is hundreds of percentage points up from last year in our major cities & restoring security to those populations. So far he has indicated raising taxes, wearing masks & bringing back regulations that in the past sent major US industries packing.
