PAUL RICHARD SHRIVER
Fun Loving

Paul R. Shriver, age 77, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 2, 2024.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Carolyn (McKee) Shriver; his daughters: Kristin Hagan (Chris), and Becky Richardson; and “the light of his life”, his two grandchildren, Gretchen Hagan and Ryder Richardson. Paul is survived by his younger brother, Steve Shriver (Donna), his sister-in law, Carolyn Ann Shriver; his sister-in-law, Kendra McKee; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends from the DMV. Paul is now reunited with his parents, Glenn K. Shriver, Sr. and Eleanor (Cort) Shriver; his eldest daughter, Elizabeth; his older brother, Glenn K. Shriver, Jr.; and his brother-in-law, Robert H. McKee.

Paul grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and attended Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School where he was a member of the wrestling and football teams and continued playing football for one year at Randolph Macon College. He then followed his brother Kenny to Erskine College in South Carolina, where he started his early career in sales, which continued throughout his life even in retirement as he was the forever salesman. Paul and Carolyn met in Dewey Beach so it seemed fitting they retire to Rehoboth 23 years ago.

Paul was actively involved in the Kings Creek HOA and many civic and charitable organizations in the Rehoboth area. His favorite pastime was playing with his grandchildren. Paul also loved his time on the beach, playing golf with friends, weekly poker games, while constantly obsessing over having an immaculate lawn.

We remember Paul as kind, fun, and a truly gentle man. He, like Dennis Galanis, and Clayton Coleman were a big part of our teenage lives. Friend, boyfriend, big brother and confident. We had had occasion to reconnect several years ago in Bethany, when we shared memories, friendships and laughter. We will miss him.

Paul and I were never close buddies, but we knew each other probably since the first grade.  Here is Paul being silly at a birthday party in the 1950s.

Oh so sorry to hear of Paul's death. I don't I think I knew him but he sounded very special from the comments just made. Love, Joanie. The little Paul was so cute. ♥️
