Yup. And here's the only one that counts:

No, Joanie. Trump says a lot of stuff I don't like. But then, all my presidents have.

Some people believe the opinions of all American voters count in many ways, Nora. Even though the perspectives of Trump's supporters are in the numerical minority, this is no reason for those who voted for Hillary to ignore them

I know his loss in the popular vote is a sore point for Trump and his adherants (hence the bullshit about millions of illegal voters), but many Americans feel disenfranchised by the electoral college like some feel disenfranchised by the prospect of impeachment. As we follow the Constitution in the electoral process, I'm sure we will all do the same in the impeachment process.

Going to be interesting if Bolton testifies.

A reminder of why I'm sensitive to the possibility of more war, yesterday at the Vet Center. John may be the only forum follower who will understand it. Notes from an earlier group therapy discussion. The upper half shorthands the symptoms/issues of Moral Injury, the lower those of Post Traumatic Stress. Many, perhaps most vets--"ours" or "theirs"--who deal with one will also deal with the other.

Ok Nori, thanks for the clarification. Its important for me and others on the forum to speak out and condemn that...its not just that other Presidents say things we don't like as that seems to diminish it as if its universal....we are in the here and now and that type of threat is escalating the situation and its not ok to suggest that you as President are going to commit war crimes. Love, Joanie

The American flag cookies remind me of "back in the day" when people on the right would become enraged by hippies with flag patches on their jeans. Now there's American flag underwear, socks, baby onesies (sp?), hats . . .

Enough to give a 60s right-winger heart failure! But today, if it makes money it makes 'em proud to be a 'Murican!

If the swimsuit's not your style, go for the evening dress!

That one night I spent in Saigon, I think I remember a gal wearing this . . .

Both available at Amazon in the 21st Century.

Jack,

Think I'll stay with the cookies; much less problematic.

Jay, Nori,

So the Caps gave us a Senior frendly 6-1 blow-out.  It would have been nice to see Ovie get a Hat Trick though...

Glen your cookies reminded me of some I made for a fundraiser a few years ago and I imagine I'll be making more this political season too.

Joan, those are really cute cookies....I remember that you are a baker....I am getting hungry for some cookies but I'm trying to lose a little weight so maybe I can just dream of cookies...Love, Joanie

So cute, Joan. And what a wide range of different shades - so unlike the candidate selection this year. Would have been fun to throw one little elephant in the batch just for kicks, no? And, how 'bout an "ele-donk" for folks like me? C'mon... mix it up a little!
Watched "Two Popes" on Netflix recently. Worthwhile script & performances. A real listening piece. Then got whip lash watching "Once Upon A Time in Hollywood". Could there BE more different flicks? Gotta love Tarantino's shenanigans. DiCapprio is astonishing in everything he touches. Had some slow spots but the ending hits you in the head.
Was anyone else confused as hell watching the Golden Globes when Michelle Williams stood up & breathlessly thanked her abortion for allowing her to pursue a successful career & EVEN WIN A GOLDEN GLOBE AWARD??? Great message, ain't it? Is that really the message the Left wants to send out? Lordy. Of course, I'm quite sure no one on this forum wants to mention the A-word, but jeez, people.

Interesting Iran dynamics going on these days. Waiting to see how it unfolds but looks like Trump's path of economic warfare is laying groundwork for some negotiation. Is Reagan pulling strings somewhere? With this 'peace through strength' direction, seems like it. Still waiting for that spike in the Dow.

I love people with a sense of humor--Assasination jokes! Didn't know they were big among the Christian Right. Ever seen someone killed by high explosives? Gutbusting funny, I'll tell you. Laugh your head off, or other body parts. Sometimes we called them crispy critters. Or someone would crack the punchline to the limerick: ". . . found her vagina in North Carolina, and bits of her tits in Dallas!" I thought only combat vets made bad jokes about violent death.

Now that there's a (brief?) pause in the threats, IMPOTUS can get back to business.

Really, Joanie? Where did you hear that? Susan Rice? The same Susan Rice who told us that the Benghazi slaughter was due to a video? You go, girl!
Jack, am quite sure Saleimani knew a thing or two about body parts, too. I, without humor or apology, sleep better knowing his are no more.
Contentious Caps/Flyers game tonight, Glen! 5 minutes at 3-2, Flyers. Tension in the air as I watch with my rabid Flyers fan. I'll pay if the Caps win! :)

Looking to contribute some funny life and death related memes to follow that drop-dead hilarious reference to blowing people into small pieces, I found this.

Too serious for laffs? The question of why some human tissue is more privileged than others isn't a knee-slapper?

Instead of increasing the amount of free-radicals in the brain with political tumult; I will indulge my senses with the enjoyment of sports, pastries, wine, Scotch, and BBQ.

Political events always seem to leave people angry and at odds with the opposing political groups.

Bakeries always seem to leave people happy, and at peace with one another.  We need more pastry consumption!  Increase your endorphin production!  You can't argue with anyone when your face is full of Napoleon...

Oh Nori, I'm so sorry you were disturbed by the inaccuracy of various shades of my cookies. Can't you find more important things to complain about? The truth is my son likes his cookies a bit overcooked and I like them undercooked. Nothing more sinister than that. As far as your suggestion that I should have baked elephant cookies - one, I don't have an elephant cookie cutter. maybe you do? And second it would have been unwelcome at a fundraiser for a Democratic candidate as would donkeys be at a Repub fundraiser.

Regarding the ridiculous Republican talking point that Nori and DT are happy to parrot, the money returned to Iraq was a years long withholding of funds paid to the US by Iran for weapons which we never delivered after the revolution began. Nobody in the US was paying off Iran. Geez you guys are uninformed.

So let me get this straight. DT assassinates a beloved military leader of a sovereign country and this is his attempt at "laying groundwork for some negotiations"? Odd attempt at diplomacy in my world. According to members of Congress who were briefed, there appears to have been no imminent threat from Soleimani regarding strikes on the US. He's been plotting against the US for decades. We've had multiple opportunities to take him out and multiple presidents have declined to do so because they realized his demise would cause extreme uprisings and that he and his plans would be replaced within hours. That's exactly what happened. So I guess you feel better because a bad guy got taken out? Good. Should his replacement be taken out now and then his replacement and his replacement and his replacement? How is this any kind of way to conduct foreign relations? Okay I understand. You feel better. That's all that really matters isn't it? DT knows that and he made you and the rest of his base feel better. It also appears to assuage his fear of feeling weak (his greatest fear). What about Bashar al-Assad or Erdoğan or Kim Jong-un? They've all got blood on their hands. Would taking them out make us safer or just feel better?

BTW Joanie is totally right. DT's plan is to piss on anything Obama ever did. One of the best things Obama did was the Iran nuclear agreement. DT says the attacks increased after the agreement was signed - a lie. Actually they diminished until DT dumped the Iran agreement.  They had been in compliance and were verifiably not enriching uranium.  Who can believe anything DT says? Iran is now on a course to increase nuclear proliferation, something they had stopped after Obama's accord. Damn, this stuff is so easily verifiable unless you listen only to DT. So explain to me please how we and our troops are safer now than before DT got pissed off watching Trump TV and decided to bomb somebody and tear up Obamas Iran agreement?

Nori, you've gotta to be kidding with your Donald Trump/Ronald Reagan comparison.  We are so far from Reagan's  "peace through strength" foreign policy mission that it's pathetic.  How about, "Chaos through incompetence and delusion."  Good posts Joan and Joanie.

When people cheer as their leaders use missiles to solve problems, innocents pay the price. With high explosives there is no such thing as a small mistake.

Ukraine Air 752, January 8, 2020. 176 dead.

Iran Air 655, July 3, 1988.  290 dead.

As long as the General is considered a 'beloved leader of a sovereign country' & not an evil, blood thirsty terrorist SOB who was plotting against us, we'll just have to agree to disagree.
And as long as the body parts of radical terrorists get everyone riled up more than the body parts of many millions of beautiful, perfectly healthy aborted babies, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree about that as well. (Talk about innocents paying a price!)  No prob. Always good to share our different positions. As for cookies: never met one I didn't like, I was just having fun with you, Joan. I had no idea you were so emotionally connected to your culinary creations. Really. It's ok.
Regardless of the origins of the $150B, I believe putting it in the hands of a country who wants to blast our best ally in the region off the face of the Earth, was a terrible mistake.
On another note:
